One of the big game changers in Family Law practice is the Central Practice Direction detailing the core principles of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. This includes the requirement for Dispute Resolution as a mandated pre-action procedure and the requirement for a Dispute Resolution event to occur to facilitate an issue of a Dispute Resolution Certificate (DRC). The DRC is to be issued as early as possible and usually no later than 5 months of the date of commencement of a proceeding.
